Linguistics Opportunity Award
Language Sciences is excited to announce a new scholarship for undergraduate Linguistics majors, the Linguistics Opportunity Award!
This scholarship provides several one-time $500-$1000 awards to students each year. Awardees are chosen based on evidence of excellence in linguistics, including academic coursework in linguistics, participation in research projects, community service and volunteer work related to linguistics, and relevance of language sciences to their proposed career or other future plans.
Eligibility
- Students must be declared Linguistics majors with at least sophomore standing who have taken at least two Linguistics courses.
- The ideal time to apply for most students would be junior year, as they will have time to accumulate experience in linguistics by this time.
- Note that graduating seniors are not eligible, because the award is paid out in the following Fall.

Open period: November 1-January 15
Deadline: January 15
Decision: announced in February
Payment: Fall semester of the following year

The Linguistics Opportunity Award is funded from the many generous donations given to the Linguistics Department Fund over the years by alumni and other friends and supporters of our program.
