We are thrilled to announce that Language Sciences Director Rajiv Rao, who is a faculty member in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese and Language Sciences, has been awarded a Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professorship. According to the Provost’s office, this title recognizes “UW–Madison faculty members whose distinguished scholarship has advanced the confines of knowledge, and whose excellence also includes teaching or service.” We could not agree more! Language Sciences has benefited greatly from Prof. Rao’s service to our unit as Director and his contributions to the intellectual life of our faculty, campus, and unit.
