Hunter received his Ph.D. in Linguistics from UW-Madison in 2017. While at the UW, he conducted original fieldwork on several Algonquian languages, and was involved in various documentation and revitalization projects. He now teaches college-level writing and Linguistics courses at Oakland University and Washtenaw Community College in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He is also a Project Coordinator at the Myaamia Center, working on linguistic projects to help support the Miami Language.
