Linguistics students receive multiple LSA awards!

Congratulations to our Linguistics students who received awards this year from the Linguistic Society of America!

We had multiple undergraduates and one graduate student receiving awards this year – wow!

The following undergraduate Linguistics majors won a Committee on Ethnic Diverstiy in Linguistics (CEDL) Travel Grant:

  • Michelle Drane
  • Thomas Harb
  • Tvisha Rao

The CEDL Travel grant provides up to $1000 to assist students from underrepresented groups to travel and attend the LSA meeting in January. This year, 3 of the 5 CEDL grants went to UW-Madison students – amazing!

As if that were not exciting enough, Linguistics PhD student Jae Weller also received a Committee on Gender Equity in Linguistics (COGEL) Grant as well! The COGEL grant provides $500 in travel funds to support participation in the LSA annual meeting by gender-diverse students.

We are so incredibly proud of all of our students for representing our campus so well at the national level!
