Research interests: Indigenous language revitalization; the Algonquian language family; morphosyntax; polysynthesis

Awards: Recipient of the UW-Madison Graduate School Fellowship 2025-2026.

Other information: Kayla is originally from Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula and spent the past ten years in Indianapolis, where she earned her B.A. in English with a concentration in linguistics at Indiana University-Indianapolis. She is a student worker assisting Professor Monica Macaulay with adding entries to a Menominee dictionary. Outside of linguistics, Kayla writes poetry and enjoys learning about natural sciences, especially geology.
