Final presentations were in full swing this week in our senior capstone course. In this small and interactive course, Linguistics majors spend a semester working closely with a professor to develop their data collection and analysis skills. This semester our capstone topic was “Algonquian Historical Phonology” and the course was taught by Professor Joe Salmons.

In the capstone, students synthesize the skills and knowledge they have acquired throughout their studies at UW to conduct a data collection and research project. The semester culminates in presentations and discussions of each student’s work.

Capstone topics rotate from semester to semester. Congratulations on reaching the final stage in your undergraduate linguistics training, seniors, and we hope you had a great capstone experience!
