Project Assistantship:
Editorial Assistant: Current Issues in Linguistic Theory and Papers of the Algonquian Conference
2022-2023
Professors Macaulay and Salmons seek a graduate student for a 50% Project Assistant for the period July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023 (12 months). The PA will serve as editorial assistant for the book series Current Issues in Linguistic Theory and the annual volume Papers of the Algonquian Conference.
Qualifications: Excellent organizational skills, writing and proofreading skills in English, word processing, basic website updating, and broad knowledge of general linguistics.
Duties: Routine duties include formatting manuscripts, proofreading, handling correspondence (e.g., proof corrections), entering copyediting changes. More generally, the PA will learn the operation of two major scholarly publications, working with authors and publishers, including the review and revision processes. Working closely with the editors, the PA will read manuscripts accepted for publication for content and style and have the opportunity to develop a fine-grained view of how to structure and present a top-quality argument in linguistics.
